Professional hypnotherapist, Theresa Waters, ARNP, PLLC, is taking part in a global education campaign to share the message that hypnosis is a simple, safe and highly effective way for people to address the problems of daily life. Routinely used in the health care industry as a valued tool, by athletes to improve focus and performance and by successful business professionals, entertainers and other high-profile individuals for relaxation and stress management, hypnosis also offers efficient applications for solving the types of problems people struggle with daily.
Presented by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), the nation’s oldest, largest and leading organization for professional consulting hypnotists, the campaign is sharing in-depth information about the role of hypnotists in helping people of all ages and with a range of problems. Dr. Dwight Damon, President of the National Guild of Hypnotists and one of the organization’s founders, explained, “The role of the consulting professional hypnotist may seem like a new profession in the minds of many consumers. In fact, the effective use of hypnosis is thousands of years old and is today accepted and proven throughout the medical community.” Dr. Damon is widely recognized as, “The Father of Consulting Hypnotism as a Separate and Distinct Profession.”

I was fortunate earlier this week to have been included in the local National Guild Hypnosis chapter meeting here in Bellingham and Kelley T. Woods gave an informative and fun presentation on Laughter Yoga that was developed by Dr. Madan Kataria from India with a focus on how it relates to hypnosis. She is the coauthor of Laughing for the Health of It. Available on Amazon. It is describes as follow on the Amazon site, “Through the ages, laughter has supported wellness and made us feel good. Now, thanks to modern research and the global health craze of laughter yoga, we know exactly why. Laughing, even on purpose and without jokes, creates significant changes in both the mind and body. In Laughter for the Health of It, mind/body experts Dave Berman and Kelley Woods put this understanding in the context of their work as professional hypnotists. The result is a book that will teach you how to exercise your laugh muscles with easy-to-use techniques specifically designed for older adults, children, and anyone suffering challenges such as chronic pain, anxiety, grief, depression and sleep problems.”
This is not about just watching a funny show, but laughter for the sake of laughing called “unconditional laughing”. Did you know that 10 minutes of laughter equals 20 minutes of exercise on a rowing machine? Sign me up!! Other health benefits include lowering your blood pressure, decreasing your stress hormones like cortisol and increase your killer T cells to improve your immune system. Dr. Kataria’s website is http://laughteryoga.org
Check out my blog for any updates, who knows, maybe we will be forming a Laughter Club in Bellingham soon!
